Lets Grow Preston opens it's gardens to the National Garden Scheme
The National Garden Scheme gives visitors unique access to all the gardens across England and Wales and raises impressive amounts of money for nursing and health charities through admissions. They are now the most significant charitable funder of nursing in the UK with beneficiaries such as Macmillian Cancer support, Marie Curie, Hospice UK and the Queen's Nursing Institute.
Let's Grow Preston's opened both our sites on at Grange Community garden and Ashton Community Garden to the National Garden Scheme. All visitors had the chance to explore our beautiful gardens whilst the Ukulele Strummers Society played relaxing music that fit the weather perfectly. There was plenty of tea and homemade cake and freshly made Stone oven pizzas to indulge. Joining us at our event's we had Cottam Candles selling soy wax candles filled with florals donated from Let's Grow Preston along with many other eco gifts and Local ceramic artist from Fired 4 U selling her nature inspired crafts with activities for visitors to paint their own ceramics ready to be fired. We was also joined by Wendy Willis who makes amazing glass art and donated Lets Grow Preston Two wonderful glass pieces for the Ashton Walled Garden for all to enjoy.
We were also delighted to welcome Mayor Javed Iqbal to see the great work the Let's Grow Preston staff and volunteers achieve. The event was a brilliant community filled day within nature sharing advice within gardening, the little ones running and exploring the gardens with many visitors leaving happy with plants they have purchased.
Thankyou to all visitors for visiting our National Garden Scheme Events as all the door admissions raised are donated to the National Garden Scheme and the many charities they support!
