Grange Community opens it's gates to the National Garden Scheme
The National Garden Scheme gives visitors unique access to all the gardens across England and Wales and raises impressive amounts of money for nursing and health charities through admissions. They are now the most significant charitable funder of nursing in the UK with beneficiaries such as Macmillian Cancer support, Marie Curie, Hospice UK and the Queen's Nursing Institute.
On the 12th June Let's Grow Preston's Grange Community garden opened its gates to the National Garden Scheme. Upon arriving at garden the sun was shining, the smell of fresh stone oven baked pizzas filled the air, with plenty of tea and cakes to indulge and the Ukulele Strummers Society playing relaxing music that fit the beautiful weather perfectly. We also had Cottam Candles selling soy wax candles filled with florals donated from Let's Grow Preston along with many other eco gifts and Local ceramic artist from Fired 4 U selling her nature inspired crafts with activities for visitors to paint their own ceramics ready to be fired.
All the visitors had the chance to explore the grounds of Grange where we have a small orchard, a pond, many willow structures, Vegetable growing and two large poly tunnels which are filled with a many varieties of plants to buy.
We were also delighted to welcome Mayor Javed Iqbal to Grange to see the great work the Let's Grow Preston staff and volunteers achieve. The event was a brilliant community filled day within nature sharing advice within gardening, the little ones running and exploring the gardens with great food and sweet treats.
Grange Community Garden will be hosting another National Garden Scheme event on the 4th Sept 12-4pm, we would love to welcome you.
Ticket admission can be paid on the day by either cash or card.
